My full name is Catherine Cates Jackson.

I was born in Frankfurt am Main, DE.
We moved to the States when I was still a baby and my parents are American,
so Ich kann nicht Deutsch.
I was born in May of 1978 - I'm a proud Gemini, but I can get a little Taurusy
at times.
I've been happily married since December of 2000.
We have a son. He is gorgeous and amazing.
I have a very large, very diverse, very cool immediate family.
I am allergic to milk. It is NOT the same as being lactose intolerant, and I hate it when people confuse the two.
I'm not an idiot and I know how to cook, so most of the time living without dairy is easy-peasy.
I hate it when people LOL their own damn sentences.
We own two very spoiled indoor cats.
I get most of my news from podcasts/the internet, because I hate, HATE tv news.
I'd rather listen to music than podcasts, so sometimes I'm a little out of
the loop on things.
I've lived in Hessen, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, and Oregon, but
I've spent MOST of my life in Washington State, which is where I currently
live.
I dislike organised religion.
I am extremely liberal.
When it comes to causes you believe in, I think it's important to put your money where your mouth is. You'd be surprised how much you don't miss the money, and every little bit helps.
I have a BA in Fine Art, with a concentration in New Media.
I obtained my first driver's license at 23, out of necessity. I'm still not
a big fan of driving.
I love The Simpsons.
I've never been stung by a bee.
I hate hate hate puke, and anything having to do with puke, or that could
lead to puking.
I got my first computer in 1986 (an Apple IIC).
According to my dad, my first words were "Doobie Brothers."
When I'm confronted with unexpected hilarity, sometimes I snort.
I'm really, really good in the kitchen.
I love being the center of attention, but sometimes it can make me nervous.
I enjoy being pampered, spoiled, and flattered.

The only bone I've ever broken is the second toe on my left foot. I call it
my "Scotty Toe," because it was my old college buddy Scott who broke it.
I'm deathly allergic to fire ant venom.
I pierced my own ears in high school. Eight times. With a safety pin.
I have 10 piercings and 1 noticeable tattoo. I have another not-so-noticeable
tattoo that is tiny and shouldn't count.
I buy organic and/or local products whenever possible.
I do not shop at Walmart.
I think cute undies are just as much a necessity as cute jackets and pants.
I slouch.
I hate that I slouch. I also hate that I frown a lot, am not perfectly symmetrical,
and am socially awkward.

I live a pretty healthy lifestyle.
My sense of humor veers toward the grossly inappropriate.

a tiny little town, just
outside of Seattle. It is perfect.
I used to be a night owl, but now that I have a kid I get up around 6 am. Every day.
I have tiny freckles in random places all over my face and body, but most
of them are on my shoulders.
I can tell that I'm getting old, and I frankly don't care for it.
Sometimes when I eat celery, it makes my tongue numb.
I find most professional sports profoundly uninteresting.
I'm a Mac AND a PC.
I get carsick.
I love post-apocalyptic themes in books and film, especially those involving

I love family holidays.
I have a hard time respecting people who frequently drink (or use other drugs)
to excess, because I see it as a sign of weakness. Plus, drunk people are
really annoying.
I love being a housewife, and wish more families were capable of having one
parent at home - mom OR dad.
I like spiders.
I'm absolutely terrified of tent caterpillars. It's a true phobia.
I like marshmallow Peeps. They're not just for eating!
My diet is pretty much either organic whole foods, or the most vile (but dairy-free) junk food you can imagine. It's much heavier on the organic whole foods, but when I'm having a rough day, well...
I use our public library system like craaazy.
I think scrapbooking is cheesy and lame.
I'm 5'7.75", but I usually tell people I'm 5'8".
I'm not self-conscious about my intelligence.
I don't have much patience for ignorance.
I don't drink coffee.
I don't smoke cigs.
When I drink (which isn't often), I'm good for maybe one or two drinks tops, and then I'm game over.
After I had my kid, I lost 30 lbs. I'm still fat.
I was in labor for 44 hours. He was 10 lbs 3 oz. I did not have a c-section.
When I get new music, I usually end up listening to it over and over again,
until I'm sick of it. Then I buy NEW music, but can't bare to get rid of the
old.
My iTunes library currently contains almost 9,000 music files.
When I see something I like, I have a hard time not touching it. I have set
off museum alarms.
I hate it when people say "cue-pon." I also hate hearing "expresso," "exspecially," "heighth," "shayng-hai," (even though I think it's technically acceptable), "foilage," "saLve," "nucular," and a lot of other words that people say wrong. That being said, I do (and will probably always) pronounce "forte" as "for-tay" instead of "fort." We all have our flaws.
My favorite Sanrio character is Chococat.
Almost all of the tv I watch is online. I haven't watched cable tv in months.
I think skinny eyebrows look kind of trashy, especially when they're so skinny that they look weird without being drawn on. What the hell is up with that?
I love makeup. Even on boys.
When I realize someone's fingernails are acrylic, I always feel a little disappointed.
I drink a lot of water.
I've played literally tens of thousands of rounds of Word Twist on Facebook. It's kind of sick.
I like my eggs over-hard, served with toast.
I use lip balm and lotion like, eighty trillion times a day.
I don't shower as often as I probably should.
I find body modification interesting and appealing in a weird way, but sometimes
the people who get those types of things done can be REALLY fucked up and
annoying. Imo.
I never feel fully satisfied with myself.
I think it's important to always push yourself to learn more, grow more, and
to be the best you can be.
I love Nikon.
I'm terrible at all correspondence. Don't even THINK of trying to get me to
send something via snail mail, but even if it's digital, I still suck at returning
messages. I much prefer brief messages online, and then hanging out in person.
I hate it when people think that just because they're writing something online
or in a text, they can just let their spelling and grammar go to shit.
I really like Andy Goldsworthy's work. And Christo's, and Spencer Tunick's,
and Ed Weston's, etc. My favorite kinds of art are photography and post-modern.
I love making complicated spreadsheets in Excel.
I love massages.
I love spending time in the bathroom.
I love sleeping in.
I love stretching, and am actually pretty flexible.
I love having nerdy conversations with my nerdy friends.
I hate bullshit, and when someone doesn't know the answer to my question I'd
much rather have an "I don't know" than an answer that "sounds
good."
Even though it makes me more carsick, I love riding in the backseat so I can play with/stare at my son the whole time.
I love to sing and have a halfway-decent voice, but can only sing in front
of others if I'm doing it with a group.
I'm a hugger, but when people smell like smoke or strong perfume it really grosses me out.
I think proper hand washing is important, and I notice when people don't do
it well.
